Photobioreactor engineering and design

Photobioreactor pharsol

A photobioreactor supplies light and CO2 to microalgae and other phototrophic organisms and cells. Supplied with nutrients the algae grow and form a dense liquid. After the maximum cell count has been reached, the biomass is harvested by centrifuge or sieves.

We offer photobioreactors from the lab and up to production scale. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a high-end in-situ steam-sterilisable photobioreactor for R&D or a full-sized production photobioreactor for installation in greenhouses or outdoors.

The high-end glass tube application is great, because:

  • it enables optimal illumination of thin algae suspension layers,
  • 100% flat surfaces prevent immobilisation and biofouling while minimising pump energy consumption,
  • both best transmission rates and light-fastness,
  • the glass tube shelf life of at least 10 years, guaranteed, and
  • smaller investment than plastic or other tubing.

We offer different types of pre-designed photobioreactor systems, listed below. If you need consultation on which photobioreactor to get for your specific intentions, send us an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
